Captain Coincidence Episode 13

Captain Coincidence was working out a little cosmetic lick on the guitar.
(He plays guitar, like me!)
(But better.)
"Hmm. That sounds like a thing!", he epiphanised. "That sounds just like the lick in Eric Clapton's Wonderful Tonight!"
An episode of Friends was ambling by on the TV - the one where Monica proposes to Chandler.
(If it's not called that, it should be.)
(He thought.)
But it could just as well be called "The one where Monica and Chandler dance to Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton at the end.", which happened just 10 seconds or so after he had epiphanated.
"That there, is what some might refer to as a coincidence!", thought Captain Coincidence.

Captain Coincidence Episode 12

Yesterday, the hosts of "I'm a celebrity, extra camp" were lampooning Nick Knowles' barked commands during a boating challenge, by comparing him to Ross Geller when he was barking commands at Chandler and Rachel to "Pivot!" while maneuvering a sofa.
Hilarity in shoes.
We all fell about!
Anyway, today, I was watching the twice daily 'Friends' reruns on channel 4, and...well, you can probably guess the rest.

...that's right! The episode featuring the Ross/"Pivot!" scenario played out, and you can probably guess the rest.

...that's right! "What a coincidence!", thought Captain Coincidence.

Captain Coincidence Episode 11

"My!", thought Captain Coincidence, "that tumble dryer has been running a long time!", exactly as it stopped.
"What a", thought Captain Coincidence, "coincidence!", thought Captain Coincidence.

Captain Coincidence Episode 10

Captain Coincidence fancied beans on toast with an egg on top, so he had beans on toast with an egg on top. He settled, industriously, in front of the TV and paused on "Classic Eastenders" as he flicked through the channels.
Arthur Fowler bustled in from stage left.
"Is the dinner on?!", he bustled, "I'm starvin'!"
It wasn't.
He set to in the kitchen.
"I'll do it meself.", he bustled.
"I fancy beans on toast wiv an egg on it!"
"Well, that's a coincidence, if ever I saw one!", thought Captain Coincidence.
And he'd seen a few.

Captain Coincidence Episode 9

Captain Coincidence was watching a repeat of Fake or Fortune? which was not a question, but a statement.
It concerned a plaster work potentially sculpted by Giacometti, a Swiss sculptor who worked in a basement in Montparnasse, Paris.
Had he seen the first screening of this in the week, he thought he would have been better prepared for a question about Parisian overground railway stations, featuring Gare Montparnasse, on Celebrity Impossible the previous day.
"What a coincidence!", thought Captain Coincidence.

Captain Coincidence Episode 8

Captain Coincidence was watching ITV's coverage of Sweden vs South Korea in the world Cup which opened with a video montage of historical footage of both teams to a backing track of Aerosmith's 'Dream on'.
Earlier in the day, he had followed a link on Facebook to a video of Stephen Tyler playing 'Dream on' with an orchestra.
"What", thought Captain Coincidence, "a coincidence!"

Captain Coincidence Episode 7

Captain Coincidence could remember when the Solicitor's was a video shop. New guy didn't, he's new after all, but Dan did.
He's old.
Dan commented that that was ages ago and Captain Coincidence could remember that it was the first place to get Ghostbusters 2 on video.
Musing back over the previous night's proceedings, Captain Coincidence idly scanned the day's TV guide to find Ghostbusters 2 listed on the Sony Movie Channel.
"What a coincidence!", thought Captain Coincidence. "Now where's that package?", he thought, as the doorbell rang.

Captain Coincidence Episode 6

Captain Coincidence was musing his next go at a Scrabble based mobile phone app and was appraising the letters available to him. Meanwhile a television advert was playing in the background extolling the merits of the government something-or-other workplace pension scheme which is apparently "like having another you at work" just as Captain Coincidence realised he had another 'U' on his rack.
"What a coincidence!", thought Captain Coincidence.

Captain Coincidence Episode 5

While Captain Coincidence was chronicling episode 4, Dominic Santini noted a flying craft at 4 o'clock.
"Coincidence?", he asked.
"There's no such thing as a coincidence.", replied Stringfellow Hawk.

"What a coincidence!", thought Captain Coincidence.

Captain Coincidence Episode 4

Captain Coincidence was watching a rerun of Street Hawk. At the end, the continuity announcer declared that Knight Rider would be broadcast at the same time tomorrow.
"Hmm", thought Captain Coincidence, "that must mean that was the last episode of Street Hawk."
He looked it up online and, indeed, it was the last episode of Street Hawk: Follow the yellow gold road. Air date 16th May 1985. 33 years ago tomorrow.

"That's not quite a coincidence", thought Captain Coincidence, "but it's certainly noteworthy!"

Captain Coincidence Episode 3

Captain Coincidence said "species" at exactly the same time as someone said it on television.
The same happened yesterday when he said "hat".
"What a coincidence!", thought Captain Coincidence.

Captain Coincidence Episode 2

Captain Coincidence was watching Frasier on the TV. Frasier and his girlfriend were playing Scrabble and having a light-hearted argument about whether 'quilty' was a word.
The show cut to an ad break, and the voice over on the first advert explained how Kenny the Koala thinks that Cushelle toilet paper is the quiltiest toilet paper around.

"What a coincidence!", thought Captain Coincidence.

Captain Coincidence Episode 1

Yesterday, Captain Coincidence watched Star Trek: The next generation, and Picard referred to a planet being x many parsecs away.
Captain Coincidence thought to himself "Aha! That's right! In Star Wars episode 4, they refer to parsecs as being a measure of time ("This is the ship that made the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs") but that's wrong."
It was a fact of which he had previously been aware, but had forgotten, so he made an effort to stick it into retrievable memory.
Today, Captain Coincidence was watching the Chase. One of the questions was "What is a parsec a measure of?
A) weight, B) distance, or C) time?"

"What a coincidence!", thought Captain Coincidence.
